HMH Architecture + Interiors Wins 2022 AIA Colorado Firm of the Year
BOULDER, CO – AUGUST 31, 2022: AIA Colorado, the Colorado Chapter of The American Institute of Architects, announced the 2022 Design + Honor Awards recipients, recognizing Colorado architecture firms, projects, and architects for outstanding design and exemplary service.
The Firm of the Year Award recognizes the collaboration among individuals in a firm who have produced distinguished architecture, made significant contributions to leadership in the profession and to their community.
Established in 1989, HMH has flourished on the foundation cast by founding Principal Harvey M. Hine, who sought to create a collaborative architecture firm of designers who share a passion for design and possess an interminable work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit. As they have grown to a staff of nine, they have retained the creative spirit and energy of an emerging firm while gaining experience and building their portfolio. Firm leadership has expanded to include Principals Leah Civiok and Stephanie Bingham, and they have attracted ambitious young architects and designers excited by the opportunity to contribute to the ethos and direction of the firm.
Community service permeates all levels of the firm, reflected in wide-ranging engagements around Boulder’s art and architecture community. From pro bono work to introducing architecture and design to young students, HMH strives to model civic engagement within the industry and beyond. To that end, they share hundreds of hours annually with a variety of non-profit organizations through participation, membership, sponsorship, and donation of time and services. They are leaders in our community, and support their employees in donating their time and energy to causes that they feel strongly about. Notably, Project Manager, Lauren Folkerts was elected to City Council in 2022.
Each Fall, HMH hosts the annual “MONTH OF MODERN” event in Boulder – a celebration of architecture, design, lifestyle, art and culture. The goal is to create a platform where the Boulder design community can come together to discuss and exchange ideas to improve the overall quality of design in the area. The events have been received with much enthusiasm, and over the past 9 years nearly every event has sold out.
